#Floola crashes after 20gb transfer PcNot a chance! OS X has its share of bugs like every other OS - but it the most stable OS I've ever used aside from UNIX itself! On the PC side, I'm actually a big Windows 2000 advocate and would recommend it over XP any day. If I asked you how many OS were released bug free you would count out every Mac OS. This tends to support the notion that is is device related - not OS X. Microtech immediatly sent out a new one with a 'recent firmware upgrade' specifically to address the issue. Case in point: I recently recieved a Microtech Firewire CameraMate that would not unmount correctly in OS X. #Floola crashes after 20gb transfer portableI have several other firewire devices - scanners, portable hard drives, etc. Several third party vendors do not follow the firewire spec (or USB for that matter) as they should. The problem is with the device or rather how firewire is implimented within it. Its funny how it works for you in 9 but not in 10 and Seems to dodge the issue as a Apple problem. I sent mine backĪfter 1 week trying to get it work properly. Why continue to market this device with OS XĬompatability is pathetic as it is rarely usable. If you're using OS X - stop what you're doing and boot into OS 9. Divide that into XP users in the same time frame probably. Only in appleland, think on thier website they claim 1 million OS 10 users, WOW thats alot. I bet if I asked you how many OS were released bug free you would count out every Mac OS, of coarse in reality there is none. Its funny how it works for you in 9 but not in 10 and it must be the device,LOL. I don't use apples at home only at work because some people insist, again brainwashed. But Apple can do no wrong, they sure have some people brainwashed. I have a friend in the data recovery service, according to him if it wasn't for Mac's firewire he would be out of business. I have been using the Mindstor on MAC 10 with no problems at all. The Mindstor unit to my Mac harddrive? Thanks for your help. The correct procedure I need to follow to download my images from Transfer stored images to a Mac harddrive. #Floola crashes after 20gb transfer manualThe Mindstor owners manual is very vague about the procedure to I tried this several times with the same result. At first, the computer started toĬopy the contents of the harddrive icon to the folder. "Italy" folder on the desktop and tried to drag and drop the Today I tried to download the images to my Mac G4 through theįirewire connection. I cameīack yesterday with about 500 NEF images stored on the Mindstorĭisk. I recently purchased the Mindstor 20 GB for a trip to Italy. #Floola crashes after 20gb transfer mac osIf this approach doesn't work and you're using Mac OS 9, try restarting the Mac while holding down the option key, then use the Extensions Manager to temporarily turn off all extensions except those relating to FireWire and the Mindstor. If this is the case, when you find a troublesome folder, copy files from it one at a time from it until you come to the bad files, then ignore them and copy everything else. The "one folder at a time" approach lets you pinpoint where the bad files are and work around them. If so, that might be the cause of the crash. It sounds like there might be one or more corrupt files on the Mindstor. Then try copying those folders one at a time into the Italy folder on your local hard disk. If the Mindstor is similarly designed, you should try opening the Mindstor hard disk icon and browse the contents of the disk to find the separate photo folders. I haven't used a Mindstor so I don't know how it stores photos, but I have used two similar devices, which store photos in a new folder for each photo transfer session. ![]()
